Radiation Oncology plays a key role in the management of cancer. Radiation Therapy is an important component. Used alone, or in combination with other modalities, it is one of the most sophisticated tools of modern medicine. Highly specialised equipment generates the specific kinds of radiation (x-rays, gamma rays, electron beams, etc.) needed for the individual cancer patient. Many cancer patients receive radiation therapy during their total treatment regime with more than half of all radiotherapy patients considered to be curable. Radiation therapy is often used to cure cancer or alleviate its symptoms.

Radiotherapy Technology offers study in a range of general topics including anatomy, pathology, patient care, computer technology and quality assurance as well as specialist radiotherapy subjects.
