The Faculty of Science is committed in benefiting the community through a number of projects involving Research, Events that engage the community, and our Extreme Science van and workshops.
The Faculty has a high level of interaction with the community engaging in all facets on a domestic and international platform.
Some current and past projects include:
- research into genetically engineered nutritionally fortified bananas for release to farmers in Uganda
- working with the Spiritus Care Service's "Leg Club®", researchers are testing different types and methods of bandaging to promote faster wound healing in patients
- offering the Extreme Science Van Program to schools in South-East Queensland
- interacting with the general public at the EKKA National Science Week stand where the Faculty displays a selection of current research programs being undertaken at the university
