The Faculty of Science consists of 13 core Research Programs (which cover the research activities undertaken by the Faculty's four Schools - Life Sciences, Physical & Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Natural Resource Sciences.

There are currently more than 200 postgraduate research students within the Faculty's master and PhD programs. The Faculty's research programs provide an intellectually vigorous environment for study and engagement in academic life. The Faculty links with two major new institutes at QUT - The Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI) and The Institute of Sustainable Resources (ISR) to foster interdisciplinary research with contributions from other faculties and collaborating hospitals, state government departments and CSIRO.
