The Faculty of Science offers a range of academic and professionally-oriented courses from Bachelor level through to Honours, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters, and PhD - from four main discipline streams:

In accordance with QUT's real-world emphasis, we seek the advice of industry, government, and the professions in the design of our courses. Opportunities for real-world learning are built into our courses through components such as clinical attachments.

Undergraduate Courses

The Faculty of Science offers a wide range of undergraduate courses including:

As a graduate from QUT's Faculty of Science, you will qualify for recognition from the professional association that is relevant to your chosen area of Science or Mathematics with excellent career and employment opportunities. A document version of the Undergraduate Courses (PDF 3.1MB) is available.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours)
If you have excelled in your degree from QUT or another recognised tertiary institution, you are encouraged to consider applying to enter the Honours program. Major studies are offered in the areas of Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Science, Geology, Life Science, Mathematics and Physics. This course requires one-year of full time study or its part-time equivalent. The qualification enhances your professional employability in your chosen discipline as well as preparing you for a research career in Science or Mathematics. The Honours qualification opens a direct pathway to postgraduate studies, enabling you to apply for entry into the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Applied Science courses.

Dean's Scholars Accelerated Honours
A program that enables students with outstanding levels of achievement at secondary school to complete both the Bachelor of Applied Science course (normally three years duration full-time) and the Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) course (normally one year duration full-time) in a total of just three years.

Postgraduate Courses

At postgraduate level, the Faculty of Science offers both Coursework and Research programs through its four schools and within the domains of the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI), QUT's new research centre at Kelvin Grove campus.

Postgraduate (Coursework)
Postgraduate coursework programs are offered at Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, and Masters level. These require one, two, and three semesters respectively of full-time study or the part-time equivalent.

An important feature of the design of the courses is their modular nature. For linked courses that are offered at different levels, graduates who complete a course at one of the lower levels (Graduate Certificate; Graduate Diploma) receive full credit towards a corresponding course at a higher level (Graduate Diploma; Masters).

Postgraduate (Research)
The Faculty of Science are committed to innovative, cutting-edge research and research training. World-class research expertise, together with state-of-the-art facilities, have contributed to the Faculty's international reputation in scientific and mathematical research. The postgraduate research courses offered by the Faculty of Science reflect its research strengths.
